About Me

Annette The Coach

About Annette

I’m an ICF certified organizational coach (ACC) and mediator, recently retired from a nearly 30-year career in post-secondary education. I hold an MBA, graduate education in Educational Leadership, and an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Sociology, a combination that shapes how I understand organizations, people, and the systems they work within.

Alongside my work in higher education, I also spent seven years in the private sector as an Insurance Agent, where I helped to double the book of business by building long-term client relationships grounded in trust, listening, and authenticity. Working with clients on complex, high-stakes decisions strengthened my ability to listen deeply, translate complexity into clarity, and support thoughtful decision-making under uncertainty—capabilities that continue to inform my coaching practice today.

My professional work has focused on building award-winning and innovative programs, leading inter-professional and cross-functional teams, and supporting leaders navigating change, complexity, and constrained resources. I bring both practical leadership experience and a deep curiosity about human behaviour, culture, and power to everything I do, across both public and private sector contexts.

In addition to my client work, I serve on the Program Advisory Committee for the Collaborative Conflict Resolution Program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and am a member of the Fuse Coaching Cooperative, reflecting my ongoing commitment to ethical practice, professional learning, and collaboration.

Context & Systems Thinking

Coaching is about change. Sometimes that change is a shift in perspective. Sometimes it is a larger strategic or directional move. I work to create a safe space where you can be honest, vulnerable, and real, while also being thoughtfully challenged. Coaching is also hard work. It asks you to look closely at your patterns, choices, and the conversations you may be avoiding. My responsibility is to partner with you through that process and to offer challenge, steadiness, care, and clear reflection so you can gain clarity, move forward with purpose, and stay accountable to the changes you want to make.

Values & Style

Calm, Perceptive, Grounded

Clients often describe me as calm, perceptive, and grounded — someone who can hold complexity without rushing to fix it.

I believe coaching is not formulaic. It’s human, relational work designed to meet you where you are.
